Christmas Cookie Awards 2018 Decorations

Movie Posters

Materials:       Paper              Cardboard box            Pencil              Paints

Not really a how to more just showing what I did

I created frames from cardboard boxes
Cutting out 2 rectangles the same size.
One of the rectangles cutting out the center to make a 1 ½  inch wide frame.
Then line the inside of the cutout with ¼ inch strips of card stock, and painted the frame silver.

I was just going to print out some Christmas movie Photos But i wanted them larger so i got out one of my large sketch books and began to draw them instead.
Here are some while they were in progress.

When finished i added them to a frame

Now The finished posters I had a few more but guess I didn’t take pictures of them all.

The Clapboards

Foam board cut into 2 pieces to form the clapboard then trimmed with ¼ inch pieces of cardstock and painted
A piece of thin cardboard (old cereal box ) cut into a rounder triangle and painted silver to make the hinge
Also added a section onto the back to hold the recipe cards.

Red Carpets

Wrapping paper cut in long strips given a tapered edge on one end then tissue paper used to decorate along the sides and a small ornament added to the tip.

Paparazzi Elves

Found these adorable elf online made templates traced onto poster board painted them black
Stuck into a square piece of foam board and trimmed with a metallic pipe cleaner.

And a marquee with just 1 piece of foam board paint and a small set of lights poking threw holes.

And here is everything put together

This is a very time consuming project as there are a lot of small details
that need to be cut out and added

Cut out 2 circles for each award cut out sections to create reel.

Cut ¼ inch strips of card stock use to outline the reel and the small windows you have cut out.

You will also need ½ inch wide strips of cardboard to create a rind for the center of the 2 reels.

Paint both sides silver when dry attach center ring to create reel.

Cut slightly less than ½ inch strips of card stock glue 2 pieces end to end and paint it silver

On  half of the length of sliver painted strip draw a film pattern like this

Attach the un-drawn end onto the center ring and roll onto reel

Hot glue on top of your base,
Write what the award is on the end of your film design and drape it across the reel attaching it with hot glue and the curling the end by rolling it up and letting it go.

These were given as awards for knowledge in different types of Christmas Movie Trivia.

I will be starting by posting some things that I  have created during my absence. Give me a couple of weeks and I will be all caught up .

Christmas Cookie Award: Statue Award

Making The Statue Awards

Materials needed
  • Card stock
  • Hot glue
  • Glue
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Metallic Pipe cleaners
  • Pattern tissue paper
  • Cereal box or some kind of thin cardboard

Start out with a piece of card stock cut into 1 inch strips. 1 strip for each statue you wish to make

Hand form a statue shape out of each strip.
Start  out with forming the head in the center till you get something that looks like this.

Before you shape it you will want to paint both sides and glitter one side. Let completely dry before forming.

Now for the base

For the base use a toilet paper roll and cut into 3 equal sections, each section will form 1 base.

Using an old cereal box trace around the base to get the top part of your base.

Once you have as many as you need hot glue tops to bases

Cut tissue paper into squares to cover the tops of your bases glue down and trim

Cut rectangle pieces of tissue paper large enough to wrap around and cover sides of the bases.
Glue on

Measure Pipe cleaner so that it will fit around the base cut 2 of these for your base. Hot glue one around the top edge and 1 around the base of the trophy.

Attach your trophy to the top with hot glue and your done.

Have fun Creating your awards and even more fun handing them out :)

Other awards to craft

Christmas Cookie Awards 2018

The theme for this year’s party was Christmas Cookie Awards

Everyone picked their favorite Christmas movie; they used this to inspire their cookie creations decorations or packaging.

I created a movie poster,a red carpet and paparazzi for each of the cookie makers so they each had a special spot to display their creations

The clapboards had their name, what movie they were representing, and a place to add how many awards that they had won. They were also made to hold recipe cards for the cookies in that section. We also used sticker to mark cookies that were gluten free, or if they had peanuts.

If you want to see how I created all of the awards and decorations you can find the information in the following links;

Paper Tube Beads Decorating Area

There are many ways to decorate your Paper Tube beads before rolling them . But first I will go thru some points you should know about where and what parts of your paper strips  need to be decorated .

IBDCraftyLady Paper Tube Beads
Here is my paper bead display showing samples of all the paper tube beads I like to use. As you can see there are many different sizes and I think about this when designing my paper tube beads. It also helps me when designing a set of paper tube beads that I want to work together. Deciding on how they will be colored to work with each other, and what sizes I will need to complete the set of paper beads.

IBDCraftyLady Paper Tube Beads
When you are decorating your paper tube beads you must primarily decorate a certain area on the top of your paper strips with the main design you want on your paper bead. These measurements come in very handy when designing your paper tube beads so that your finished paper tube beads all come out looking the same. The width of your paper tube bead does not have an effect when designing. Just the length of your paper strip does, as it must fit all the way around your finished paper tube bead.

Paper length                       Design area
2 inches                                               6/16  of an inch
3inches                                                7/16 of an inch
5 inches                                               9/16 of an inch
7 inches                                               11/16 of a inch
10 inches                                             11/16 of an inch
13 inches                                             13/16 of an inch
15 inches                                             13/16 of an inch
17 inches                                             14/16 of an inch
20 inches                                             1 inch
25 inches                                             1 1/16 of an inch
30 inches                                             1 3/16 of an inch
40 inches                                             1 6/16 of an inch
